Ajax have completed and confirmed the signing of Lisandro Martinez from Argentinian side Defensa y Justicia.
Martinez is primarily a centre-back, possibly brought in to replace Matthijs de Ligt who is set to leave Amsterdam soon, but he also quite capable of stepping in as a left-back if need be. He started his professional career at Newell Old Boys in 2016/17, but he only made a single first-team appearance before joining Defensa y Justicia, initially on loan. The deal was made permanent last year and the 21-year-old now leaves them having played 58 times in their shirt and scored three goals.
Already capped at senior level with Argentina, Martinez has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Dutch champions, with an option of a 12-month extension.
