Slovenia 1-1 Denmark: Eriksen fairytale goal cancelled out by deflected equaliser

Christian Eriksen marked his return to the European Championship with a goal as Denmark were held to a 1-1 draw by Slovenia.

It is almost three years to the day since Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 match against Finland before coming back to the sport eight months later.

He put Denmark ahead in Stuttgart after only 17 minutes and they appeared to be heading for victory, but Erik Janza netted with a deflected effort 13 minutes from time.

Benjamin Sesko also hit the post for Slovenia, who will feel they could have snatched all three points.

Newcastle ‘will receive £35m’ in ‘straight sale’ of reluctant academy star to Premier League rivals

Newcastle United have agreed to sell academy graduate Elliot Anderson to Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, according to reports.

Anderson, 21, joined when he was eight, making his first-team debut in an FA Cup clash against Arsenal in January 2021.

He spent the second half of 2021/22 on loan at Bristol Rovers and earned a long-term contract after scoring eight and assisting five in 21 League Two matches.

Tied down until 2026, the 21-year-old midfielder could be on the move after making 55 appearances for the Magpies, scoring no goals and providing three assists.

An intriguing bill has been introduced to the Senate and would legalize sports betting in the Peach State without the need for a constitutional amendment.
